In light of Refugee Week this week (15th to 21st June) we wanted to draw a very special spotlight to our students who attended our Free Thinking course.
In November 2019 Fircroft College piloted a FREE 10 week Free Thinking adult residential programme (weekends only) for survivors of trauma, modern slavery and trafficking, providing a safe place to learn, grow and progress. With many of these students identifying as Refugees or Asylum seekers, this course was a valuable opportunity to help support the unique and difficult circumstances these students have faced.
We recently got back in touch with our students to see what they have progressed onto post the course and found that over 70% of students were now either in employment or further education.
With over 35% of these students starting with us with either no or entry level qualifications, this is a fantastic achievement from our students. It is heartening to see their motivation to continue their educational journey during a time of exceptional challenge and difficulty! We are proud of their achievements.
