Level

Entry-Level 3

This course is for anyone who would like to develop their ability in English.

On this course you will develop strategies to improve your spelling accuracy, master punctuation rules, and enhance your understanding of grammar concepts. Through interactive exercises and practical examples, you will gain the necessary skills to communicate effectively in written English.

Spelling

You will be focusing on developing strategies for spelling accuracy, learning common spelling rules, patterns, and techniques to improve your spelling skills. You will explore strategies for identifying and correcting spelling errors, develop a wide-ranging vocabulary and understand where certain words come from.  Through spelling exercises, word games, and vocabulary-building activities, you will enhance your spelling proficiency and develop a stronger grasp of the English language.

Punctuation

You will learn the correct use of punctuation marks and their impact on the clarity and meaning of written texts. You will study the rules governing punctuation, including the use of commas, full stops, question marks, exclamation marks, quotation marks, and apostrophes. You will develop an understanding of how punctuation helps with sentence structure, conveys meaning, and enhances readability. Through interactive exercises and writing tasks, you will practice applying punctuation accurately in various contexts.

Grammar

You will focus on fundamental grammar concepts necessary for clear and effective communication. You will explore topics such as sentence structure, verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, pronoun usage, and common grammatical errors. You will develop a solid understanding of grammatical rules, enabling you to construct grammatically correct sentences and paragraphs. You will engage in grammar exercises, analyse sentences, and error correcting activities to reinforce your understanding and application of grammar rules.

Entry Requirements

You must be working at Entry-Level 3 in Literacy, or above

Progression

Alongside the rest of the programme, you will be able to work effectively at Entry-Level 3 for English.
