Access to Higher Education - Residential Life

A residential college offers real benefits when studying for the Access to Higher Education Diploma (Social Sciences and Humanities).

It gives you a ready made network for personal and learning support. This is encouraged through regular events and activities outside the timetable.

Living

Accommodation for Access to HE students is of a high standard and your room is cleaned for you. All bedrooms are large, private and the vast majority en-suite. Many have period features and enjoy stunning views over the gardens.

Students who are resident are normally accommodated in the old Cadbury family home. All students have their own large bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Tutors are on hand to help you, even in the evenings.

All meals are home cooked by our own staff which means we can deal confidently with special diets.

Learning facilities

There is 24/7 access to library and computer facilities. Teaching rooms are bright, spacious, modern and fully accessible. The Access to HE Diploma has a designated teaching room with ICT facilities: free wi-fi is available to all students.

Social

There is a friendly and active social scene with trips, events and activities to suit all tastes organised throughout the year.

There is a common room, TV/DVD and free hot refreshments, separate TV room, recreation room with a free pool table, dart board and TV/DVD and a quiet/prayer room. All indoor areas are smoke free.

There is an active Students Union and you will have a chance to stand for office!

Birmingham City Centre is a 15 minute bus or train ride away. Promoting itself as a shopping capital, it also offers every club and cultural experience imaginable. If you’re new to the city we’ll show you around.
